From the Director

Director Pat SmithWelcome to Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School! I want to take this opportunity to share information with you about our school. The mission of WLGOS is to provide at-risk students, ages 16 through 19, with the necessary skills to:
• Obtain a General Education Diploma (GED)
• Achieve personal goals
• Develop leadership qualities
• Become productive citizens
• Contribute to local communities
• Respect themselves and others

In more informal terms, WLGOS seeks to engage minds, develop character, and build relationships with our students on a daily basis. It is a place where everyone knows your name and where amazing teachers combine traditional and innovative approaches in very small classes. Because our school is relatively small overall, it is a land of opportunity for every student. We put students in leadership positions right away, and they enjoy success throughout their time at our school. While WLGOS is renowned for its structured academics, we value the importance of balancing academics with arts, athletics, community service, and leadership opportunities.

As you explore our website, I encourage you to make plans to visit the campus if you have not already done so. Please contact the admissions office to set up a visit!

Thank you for visiting WLGOS!
